Otto Heinrich Frank (12 May 1889 – 19 August 1980) was the father of Anne Frank. He edited and published the first edition of her diary in 1947 (subsequently known in English as The Diary of a Young Girl ) and advised on its later theatrical and cinematic adaptations.

Otto Frank had been in the sick bay since November 1944. That was his salvation. He no longer had to do heavy work, he was not mistreated, and he was protected from the cold.
Otto was a smart, resourceful, and caring father, as well as a talented businessman. He had a strong character and was clearly the head of the Frank household. The only resident of the annex to survive the war, Otto remained in Auschwitz until it was liberated by Russian troops in 1945 .

Jan 21, 2020 · On 27 January 1945, this year 75 years ago, the Russians liberated concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz. Otto Frank, Anne's father, was one of around 8,000 prisoners who were left behind, most of them critically ill. 'Ruski', Otto would later write in his notebook for this date.
Otto Frank grew up in Frankfurt's Westend district, a neighbourhood made up of about 20%, mostly liberal, Jews. His own family also belonged to the liberal Jewish denomination. His parents considered themselves primarily German 'Bildungsbürger', for whom Jewish faith played no important role.
Otto Frank escaped Nazi Germany with his wife and two daughters soon after Hitler came to power in 1933. They lived a peaceful life in Amsterdam until May 1940, when Nazi Germany invaded the Netherlands.
