One of the best things to visit in kumarakom is the bay island driftwood museum. Its called so because all the sculptures are naturally built on driftwood that's found on the shores of the Bay island in Andaman's after tide receeds.
Jan 1, 2007 · Bay Island Driftwood Museum. The red-brick building, off the main road at Chankarapadi, near Kumarakom, is not easy to miss. It is a unique museum and well worth a visit. The museum has a collection of sculptures. The original design is Nature’s own.
The museum is curated by Mrs Punnoose and showcases driftwood collected from the Andaman sea shore after tidal waves have hit and receded the shore. The driftwood is fossilized and could date back thousands of years but due to lack of funding for carbon dating, this has not been determined.
