Biography. Son of Charles VI, he took the royal title after his father's death in 1422 (thus violating the terms of the treaty of Troyes, which named Henry V of England and his successors as Kings of France) and was crowned in 1429. Called 'Le Victorieux' (the victorious) or 'le bien-servi' (the well-served).
