The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has said that he has been getting many requests from citizens across India to name the Khel Ratna Award after Major Dhyan Chand. He said respecting their sentiment, the Khel Ratna Award will hereby be called the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.
The National Sports Award, which will be conducted in New Delhi on November 13, will see as many as 12 Indian sportspersons being conferred the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.
Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award 2023. The objective of the award is to recognize the spectacular and most outstanding performance in the field of sports by a sportsperson over a period of four years immediately preceding the year during which the award is to be given.
