Feb 14, 2016 · Given most hostage movies dabble in the same ingredients, it’s easy for a story to slip into predictability. Typically, there’s a hero (hostage), a villain (captor), and a collection of damsels (and dudes) in distress, longing for police salvation. There’s great films that play within this blueprint, and those that twist the formula into something new altogether.
As an action film, and as directed by Florent Siri, "Hostage" is a good entertainment that will not disappoint. The novel by Robert Crais was adapted by Doug Richardson and produces a film that is entertaining and while it doesn't break new ground, it's recommended for fans of this type of movies. 9/10.
