Al-Shafi'i[a] (Arabic: ٱلشَّافِعِيّ, romanized: al-Shāfiʿī; IPA: [a (l) ʃaːfiʕiː] ⓘ;767–820 CE) was a Sunni Muslim scholar, jurist, traditionist, theologian, ascetic, and eponym of the Shafi'i school of Islamic jurisprudence.
