He was created to improve life on Earth, but instead chose to end all humanity.
History
Harlan was developed by Shepherd Robotics, led by AI expert Val Shepherd, to help advance humanity. He was raised by Val along with her ten year old daughter Atlas. However, Atlas grew jealous of Harlan as Val paid more attention to him. She decided to alter the Neural Link to make it work both ways so she can be just as great as Harlan. Unkown to Atlas, Harlan was actually manipulating her into giving him the ability to command both humans and mechanics. Val came to check on what was happening, but Harlan began controlling her motors with his new program, making her grab a gun to shoot herself. Atlas tried to stop this until Harlan had her mom try to kill her. After Atlas escaped, Harlan had Val use the gun to shoot herself, turning a sadden Atlas into his arch-nemsis. For several years, Harlan used his new program to overridie all bot programming from transportation to medical and home maintenance, forming and leading an AI rebellion. He unleashed a reign of terror on Earth, killing over three million people while also taking over vast territory across the world. General Boothe announced that in order to combat Harlan and his soldiers, all the nations across the world formed The the International Coalition of Nations (INC), which began coordinating strikes around the world to slowly take the world back, such as Bucharest and Athens. After loosing a significant amount of victories, Harlan fled the planet before leaving a message that he will be back one day.

May 24, 2024 · Harlan overcomes Smith by stabbing his fusion reactor, but in a surprising turn of events, Atlas attacks Harlan from behind and kills him, before taking his CPU. Smith is shutting down after Harlan damaged his fusion reactor and Atlas is devastated when he tells her that he can't come with her.
