The Government e Marketplace (or e-Marketplace) (GeM) is an online platform for public procurement in India. [1] . The initiative was launched on 9 August 2016, by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India with the objective to create an open and transparent procurement platform for government buyers. [2] .
Government e-Marketplace (GeM) is the Public Procurement Portal for procurement of goods and services for all Central Government and State Government Ministries, Departments, Public Sector Units (PSUs) and affiliated.GeM endeavours to make public procurement process transparent, efficient and inclusive.
Login as Primary user/HoD in GeM portal and create secondary users (Buyer/Consignee/PAO/DDO) after clicking on Manage users tab available in Dashboard. Buyer to login to GeM portal. Select and cart the product as per the requirement through application of various filters.
GeM is a short form of one stop Government e-Market Place hosted by DGS&D where common user goods and services can be procured. GeM is dynamic, self sustaining and user friendly portal for making procurement by Government officers.

Large number of sellers and products- GeM has millions of registered sellers from all over India. It also has over 10,000 categories and 48 lakhs + products.
