That isn't the issue however as it won't let me play the tutorial due to "patching" on the bottom. I left it running for almost an hour and I don't see any progress on it.

For me it means "this comment is light-hearted and cheerful" and I use it if a comment might sound too harsh all by itself. To my mother (who is 80) lol means Lots of Love when she texts it. Some people have told me it means Laugh OnLine.

Depends on context, but it may be like “lol ok I don’t agree/believe that” or it may have literally just been “lol ok.”. laugh out loud! okay. Context changes the implied meaning but they're just laughing via text and saying ok.

The etymology isn’t related to the English acronym at all but people use it in the exact same contexts in texting anyway, as an interjection. It seems like Redditors use it to mean “fuck you” or to show that the comment they’re responding to is so stupid that it isn’t worth anything more than a scornful response.
