Yes they are real names. Chad is generally a cliché rich white dude name, but there are black guys named Chad as well (just not what you first think of). Tyrone is typically an African-American name, but I'm sure there are some white guys named that. I've never met anyone with either name, but they surely exist.

The main stars are John Boyega (Fontaine), Jamie Foxx (Slick Charles), and Teyonah Parris (Yo-Yo). A mixture of comedy, action, and science fiction makes it pretty well rounded.
