Bonghwa County (Bonghwa-gun) is a county in North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. It lies inland, at the northern edge of the province, and borders Gangwon province to the north. To the east it is bounded by Yeongyang and Uljin counties, to the south by Andong, and to the west by Yeongju.
The Ponghwa Chemical Factory (Korean: 봉화화학공장, "Torchlight Chemical Factory") is the larger of North Korea's two oil refineries. It is located in Sinŭiju, on the river border with Dandong in China, and originally was supplied with crude by rail from the Daqing oilfields in China.

Ponghwa Revolutionary Site is a Revolutionary Site in Kangdong County, Pyongyang in North Korea. The site is associated with Kim Hyong-jik, the father of North Korea's first leader Kim Il Sung. Kim Hyong-jik lived in Ponghwa between mid-March 1916 and November 1917. At that time, he was teaching at the nearby Myongsin School.
