Newhall - Santa Clarita. Newhall was started in 1876 by Henry Mayo Newhall, owner of much of the land in the Santa Clarita Valley at the time. The land at the current location of Newhall was sold to a railroad company, who then named the little town in Henry Mayo Newhall's honor.
