Lyford Cay was named after Captain William Lyford Jr., who was awarded the land by Royal Decree from King George III in 1788. The modern history of the island began when Canadian industrialist and thoroughbred horse breeder E. P. Taylor, affectionately known as Eddie, visited Nassau in 1945.
In all, Lyford Cay boasts six dining facilities and eight cocktail and refreshment bars to meet the needs of members and their guests. When business is on the day's agenda, our state-of-the-art in-house conference services can accommodate over 150 people in large or small meeting rooms, both offering full communications services.
The Main Clubhouse is surrounded by sweeping lawns and a tropical landscape that opens to the sea. Each Clubhouse Room, with private terrace and seaside view, offers the quiet comfort of a guesthouse. Club Cottages with sitting rooms and dining verandas are nestled among palms along the beach.

Happenings & Events. Year-round activities are planned for Members and Guests of all ages to enjoy at the Club. Join celebrations on long holiday weekends, catch the movies in the Conference Room on Monday and Thursday evenings, and take part in one of the regular backgammon and bridge games in the Library.

The Lyford Cay golf course was originally designed by Dick Wilson and redesigned in 2006 by Rees Jones. It is a 7,007 yard, par-72 course of championship calibre. The Golf Shop features a professional teaching staff and carries a full range of men's and ladies' sports clothing.
