- Hideout feels like a mix of crime thriller and final girl style horror, it’s fast paced and tense but with a dark, eery edge. There’s a compelling atmosphere that runs throughout, it’s violent or harsh when it needs to be, but for the most part plays to a more subtle, suspenseful style.

My rating of "Hideout" lands on a generous four out of ten stars. While "Hideout" was watchable, it is not a movie that I would recommend horror fans to rush out and watch. Nor is it a movie that I will ever return to watch a second time.
May 5, 2019 · While it does run a bit too long, Hideout makes good use of most of that time as it moves back and forth between traditional crime thriller and outright horror. One minute the police are at the door asking questions, the next a stuffed bear’s head moves, watching Kyle as he walks past.

Sometimes they can prove to be exercises in tension or they can come across as boring and generic. “Hideout” starts out looking like the latter, but by the end, it manages to really differentiate itself.

However, the horror and suspense are the definition of slow burning. They grow in tandem with the plot and pace of the movie. Hideout isn’t a movie that’s going to hit you with all its got right from the start.
