I commented in another thread already that I am well aware that the movie is not historically accurate. I criticise the movie myself as I rather see it as an 8/10 than an glorious masterpiece that some see.

  7. Unlike some of Gibson's recent films, Apocalypto is a fairly straightforward adventure story with a lot of brutal action. It also hints at subtle but intelligent critique of religious fanaticism, elitism and classism, and displays a great respect (though not exaggerated, worshipful or patronizing) for the living culture it loosely portrays.
