Alaf Laila is an Indian television series based on the One Thousand and One Nights, also known as the Arabian Nights. [1] It was produced by Sagar Arts. [2] It was made in two seasons. The series from 1993 to 1997 for 143 episodes on DD National.
Layla and Majnun (Arabic: مجنون ليلى majnūn laylā "Layla's Mad Lover"; Persian: لیلی و مجنون, romanized: laylâ-o-majnun) [1] is an old story of Arab origin, [2][3] about the 7th-century Arabic poet Qays ibn al-Mulawwah and his lover Layla bint Mahdi (later known as Layla al-Aamiriya). [4]
While the entire story down to its minute details might not be true, the existence of a poet named Qays who fell in love with Layla has some historical backing.
