   • “ Greinburg castle is the only attraction in the town worthy of review. ” This is a typical castle along the Danube except that people actually live in it as opposed to a museum. The view of the town and the river are very good from here. Hike to it not for faint hearted. There is a beautiful grotto in the basement.

   Who has owned Greinburg Castle?

   • Greinburg Castle was owned by Earl Oktavian Karl of Carioni from 1700 to 1709. He then sold it to Franz Ferdinand of Salburg and Prandegg. The Dietrichstein family became the owners again in 1810, but they sold the estate in 1811 to Josef Fink, the Mayor of Hainburg.

   Wonderfully preserved in its furnishings, architecture, porcelain settings etc. A true "working" castle as the family owns a large forestry business in addition to the castle. The guides were very knowledgable on all things ownership, royalty lines and castle life.
