East London is the northeastern part of Greater London, England, east of the ancient City of London and north of the River Thames as it begins to widen. Containing areas in the historic counties of Middlesex and Essex, East London developed as London's docklands and the primary industrial centre.

- Shoreditch. Since it’s one of the best-known east London neighborhoods, I’ll start with Shoreditch. This area has some of the top bars, restaurants, and nightlife in London, and it’s a great place to start exploring the East End.
- Spitalfields. Just south of Shoreditch, Spitalfields is another of my favorite east London neighborhoods. From the goods for sale at Old Spitalfields Market to the street art around Brick Lane, this area is bursting with color.
- Walthamstow. Up north, Walthamstow is one of the best east London neighborhoods for living like a local. This area is home to great restaurants, a famous neon art store, and the William Morris Gallery, a museum dedicated to the life and works of the famous English Arts and Crafts Movement designer.
- Whitechapel. Back towards Spitalfields, Whitechapel is a great east London neighborhood for its blend of history and culture. Everything from the Royal London Hospital Museum to the East London Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre is here.
- Columbia Road Flower Market. Immerse yourself in a riot of colors and scents at the Columbia Road Flower Market. Every Sunday, this vibrant market comes alive with a wide variety of flowers, plants, and gardening accessories.
- Museum of London Docklands. Discover the fascinating history of London’s docks at the Museum of London Docklands. Located in a converted warehouse, this museum tells the story of the city’s river, port, and the people who lived and worked in the area.
- Spitalfields City Farm. Escape the urban jungle and getup close and personal with farm animals at Spitalfields City Farm. This charming community farm offers a chance to interact with goats, pigs, sheep, and other animals.
- ArcelorMittal Orbit. Ascend the ArcelorMittal Orbit, an iconic sculpture and observation tower in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Take the elevator to the top and enjoy panoramic views of the city skyline.
