Brčko ( Serbian Cyrillic: Брчко, pronounced [br̩̂tʃkoː]) is a city and the administrative seat of Brčko District, in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina. It lies on the banks of Sava river across from Croatia. As of 2013, it has a population of 39,893 inhabitants. [1]

Brčko is a port town located on the Sava River in the northeast of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In April 1992, Serb forces took control of the strategically positioned municipality which connected Serb-held areas in western Bosnia and Croatia with eastern Bosnia and Serbia.
