South Kensington is a district just west of Central London in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Historically it settled on part of the scattered Middlesex village of Brompton. [1] . Its name was supplanted with the advent of the railways in the late 19th century and the opening (and shutting) and naming of local tube stations. [2] .

The Royal Albert Hall
Kensington's famous Royal Albert Hallplays host to the BBC Proms concerts each year. As well as classical concerts, you can also see rock and pop gigs, ballet, opera and even tennis here! Next door to the Royal Albert Hall is the Royal College of Art, a postgraduate art and design college, which holds regular exhibitions. Look out for up-and-coming artists and designers at the annual graduate shows.
Royal Parks in Kensington
There's plenty of green space in Kensington – the area's home to two of London's magnificent Royal Parks: Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. South Kensington is a very affluent district in West London, just south of Hyde Park. It's home to the Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Imperial College and many many foreign embassies. The area is very popular with the tourists and there man fine cafes and restaurants choose from.

- Visit the Natural History Museum. The Natural History Museum is one of my favourite places in London. There are loads of interesting exhibitions on a huge variety of topics, from dinosaurs to sea animals.
- Explore the Science Museum. I visited London for the first time at the age of 12, and I made my parents spend a whole day inside the Science Museum. Considering we were only spending two days in London, I’m surprised they let me convince them to do so.
- Visit the Victoria and Albert Museum. While I’m more of a science museum fan, no visit to South Kensington would be complete without a visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum.
