Nestled in the hills just outside the city, the temples are lavishly decorated with ornate carvings. They date back to the 1st century BC, but even the intricate sculptures have been preserved incredibly well.

  7. Udayagiri Caves in Vidisha are ancient (3–4 centuries AD) and have intricate carvings...the rock-cut architecture and sculptors are marvels that leave visitors in awe and amazement. However, they need better care and protection from ASI.
