Rochefort (French pronunciation: [ʁɔʃfɔʁ] ⓘ; Occitan: Ròchafòrt), unofficially Rochefort-sur-Mer (French pronunciation: [ʁɔʃfɔʁ syʁ mɛʁ]; Occitan: Ròchafòrt de Mar) for disambiguation, is a city and commune in Southwestern France, a port on the Charente estuary.
Also known as Rochefort-sur-Mer, the city of Rochefort takes place in New-Aquitaine, in the department of Charente-Maritime. Located in a loop of the Charente, it is about ten kilometers of the Atlantic coast, not far from La Rochelle, Fouras or Surgères.
