This is the third film by director Jang Hoon, after completing Secret Reunion and Rough Cut. It won four Grand Bell Awards, including Best Film.

Lieutenant of the Defense Security Command Kang Eun-Pyo is ordered to go out into the Eastern front line and investigate the murder. When Kang Eun-Pyo arrives in the Aerok Hills he is surprised to find his old friend Kim Soo-Hyeok commanding troops in the Aerok Hills. Kang Eun-Pyo believed Kim Soo-Hyeok was dead.

I dont care about historical accuracy as south korean film always gave me entertainment but The Front Line is honestly a well made war film. Not the greatest from cinematography and score pov, this was heavily dependent upon front line battle sequences which directed very smartly by Jang Hoon.
