- Cracking Common Words. Fill in WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY, and HOW if you see question marks. If you notice a question mark at the end of an encoded message, you can always assume one of these words appears somewhere in the sentence.
- Figuring out the First Letters. Search for 1-character phrases to place the letters A and I. Since the only 1-letter words in English are A or I, they’ll be the easiest to find in your puzzle.
