Gijón. Coordinates: 43°32′N5°42′W43.533°N 5.700°W. Not to be confused with Dijon. Gijón ( Spanish: [xiˈxon]) or Xixón ( Asturian: [ʃiˈʃoŋ]) is a city and municipality in north-western Spain. It is the largest city and municipality by population in the autonomous community of Asturias.

- Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura. About three kilometres east of the city is a gargantuan Franco-era university campus that despite being built in the 50s was falling into disrepair by the 1990s.
