She is the author of several books including the award-winning Salim Mamoo and Me (Tulika books). Niloufer Wadia has done illustrations for several books including Kanna Panna, When Bholu Came Back and The Adventures of the Humongoose Family, published by Tulika books.

Adivasi communities are brilliant at straddling “today’s world” and their own, if given the appropriate opportunities and support to do so.
Zai Whitaker has written twenty books including novels and collections of poetry, short stories and essays. She writes mostly on the environment and conservation, and indigenous people like the Irular and Jarawa. She has taught English, and been principal of two schools.
