Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) was established on 1st June 1996 with the assent of His Excellency Honorable Governor of Karnataka as a full fledged University in the academic year 1996 vide Government notification no ED 1 UOV 95 dated 12th February 1996 (KSOU Act – 1992).

The functions of the Admission Section include managing the admission calendar, processing applications, conducting entrance examinations and counselling sessions, and providing support and guidance to prospective students.

Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), Mysuru, is a State Public University established by the act of State Legislature in 1992, and was brought into force on 1st June 1996. Ever since its establishment, KSOU has been pro-actively engaged in fulfilling the national objectives of higher education.
DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME. The minimum duration of B.A. Programme is Three Years and maximum duration is Six Years from the Year of Admission. The Candidates who do not complete the Programme within Six Years will have to seek fresh admission.
