An Act to amend and consolidate the law relating to legal practitioners and to provide for the constitution of Bar Councils and an All-India Bar. Short title, extent and commencement.-. (1) This Act may be called the Advocates Act, 1961. It extends to the whole of India.
The Advocates Act passed in May 1961 and enforced on 16th August 1961 applies to the whole of India. The Advocates Act was to amend the laws related to legal practitioners. It provides the constitution of members for the State Bar Council and Bar Council of India.
