Sally Ride EarthKAM (Earth Knowledge Acquired by Middle school students) is a NASA educational outreach program that enables students, teachers, and the public to learn about Earth from the unique perspective of space.
Sally Ride EarthKAM (Earth Knowledge Acquired by Middle school students) is a NASA educational outreach program started in 1996. The program was initiated by JoBea Way Holt , an Earth scientist from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory , and was initially named KidSat.

The project was initiated by Dr. Sally Ride (America’s first woman in space) in 1995 and called KidSat. The KidSat camera flew on three space shuttle flights (STS 76, 81 and 86) to test its feasibility. In 1998, the program was deemed successful and renamed to EarthKAM.

San Diego, CA, October 27, 2014—Sally Ride Science today announced that a fall mission is scheduled for Sally Ride EarthKAM, Tuesday, November 4, through Friday, November 7. During the mission, students from across the world will be able to take snapshots of Earth from space by operating a camera aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
You control the camera in this unique Earth observation experiment onboard the International Space Station! In 2016 alone, students and educators around the world requested more than 24,000 images through Sally Ride EarthKAM at Space Camp.
