A day in the life of a real little girl who lives in a forest Shanti is a little girl who lives with her family and many others in a unique sustainable forest community named Sadhana Forest. As you can imagine, her lifestyle is very different from a kid growing up in the city.
Sadhana Forest is a volunteer-led initiative dedicated to reforestation, water conservation, and food security in dry regions. The project aims to reforest the land with indigenous species while practising water retention and living sustainably.
Sadhana Forest is a reforestation project and a sustainable living community that started its ecological revival and sustainable living work on December 19th 2003. The vision of its founders is to transform 70 acres of severely eroded, arid land on the outskirts of Auroville, Tamil Nadu, South India.

Sadhana Forest is an international volunteer-based not-for-profit organization that aims to teach local citizens and volunteers about environmental renewal and sustainable living. In 2003, Yorit and Aviram Rozin started Sadhana Forest in Auroville, India.
Our main project is the reforestation of 70 acres of severely eroded land. We are working to recreate the Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest which is indigenous to our area.
Community living in Sadhana Forest India provides many opportunities to develop one’s social and environmental consciousness and creativity. We host more then 1000 volunteers a year from all over the world, making Sadhana Forest India one of the largest residential volunteer projects in the world.
Sadhana Forest India focuses on reforesting 70 acres of severely degraded land with the indigineous TDEF (Tropicla-Dry-Evergreen-Forest). The TDEF is on the verge of extinction as only 0.01% of what used to be a vast forest currently exists in small patches in South India.
At the moment Sadhana Forest has planted: 28,000 TDEF (tropical dry evergreen forest) trees in Auroville, India. More then 80,000 trees in Anse-à-Pitres, Haiti. And is beginning a food forest project in Samburu County, Kenya. Survival rate is an important goal we have set for ourselves.
