Jun 14, 2024 · After a reign of 24 years, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s party, Biju Janata Dal (BJD), lost its majority in Odisha’s 2024 assembly election. The BJD secured 40.22 per cent of the votes and won 51 seats (against 112 seats in 2019), while the BJP got 40.07 per cent of the vote share and won 78 seats.
