This is the manual for OpenToonz, an open-source full-featured 2D animation creation software. http://opentoonz.github.io. Note. This manual is an ongoing project, which aims to provide the first and most complete reference for OpenToonz features, and as such there will always be room for improvements and updates. Collaboration is welcome!
OpenToonz is based on "Toonz Ghibli Edition," an in-house customized version of Toonz that Studio Ghibli has used for many years for digital workflow of their production. Since Toonz and GTS have been the core of the production process in the past, OpenToonz and GTS were also widely used in the production of "The Boy and the Heron".

Sequence of drawings can be painted quickly with automatic tools, and palette colors can be edited at any time, updating automatically all the level drawings.
You can download the appropriate version of OpenToonz for your operating system from the Download page in the official OpenToonz web site. Choose either the Windows or macOS version to start downloading the installer application.
