Bulleh Shah - Wikipedia. Sayyid Abdullah Shah Qadri [a] ( Punjabi pronunciation: [səiəd əbdʊllaːɦ ʃaːɦ qaːdɾiː]; 1680–1757), known popularly as Baba Bulleh Shah [b] and Bulleya, was a 17th and 18th-century Punjabi revolutionary philosopher, reformer and a Sufi poet, universally regarded as the "Father of Punjabi Enlightenment".
Bulleh Shah (1680-1757) is the foremost Sufi poet of Punjab and holds manifold importance. In him the pantheism of Punjabi sufism reached its apex. He was born in a Sayyed family in a village near Kasur. He became a fakir of Qadri order as a disciple of Shah Inayat, an Arain peasant and Sufi master.

Bulleh Shah was educated by the famous Persian and Arabic scholar Maulana Murtaza Kasuri. He is said to have been a classmate of Syed Waris Shah, the author of the famous story "Heer Ranjha". Bulleh Shah did not get married and remained a virgin for the rest of his life.
