Avro Keyboard is a free software program that lets you type the Bengali language on QWERTY keyboards. You can use Roman letters to write Bangla characters with Avro. The freeware was released as an open-source project in 2003 on March 26 in celebration of Independence Day in Bangladesh.
Avro Keyboard comes with a handy Bangla spell checker using the built-in Avro Pad. Both Unicode and ANSI typing support! From the very first release, Avro Keyboard is fully Unicode complaint. From version 5.x, it also supports ANSI fonts (fonts compatible with Bijoy 2000).
Avro Keyboard supports other layouts for Bangla typing besides Phonetic. When you click on the tiny dropdown arrow beside the language option, it will show you a list of its other available keyboard layouts like Probhat, Munir Optima, and Avro Easy.
