June 17, 1981 [1] Jacob Riis Park, also called Jacob A. Riis Park [2] and Riis Park, [3] is a seaside park on the southwestern portion of the Rockaway Peninsula in the New York City borough of Queens. It lies at the foot of the Marine Parkway–Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge, east of Fort Tilden, and west of Neponsit and Rockaway Beach.

Jacob Riis Park is a place to hang out and relax in a calm, breezy, judgment-free setting. It doesn't feel like New York given its distance from buildings and the fresh, open air, but it very much resembles NYC in the diversity of it its crowd.

Jacob Riis Park is located on the western end of the rockaways. This an NPS site, part of gateway national recreation area. If you’re looking for beach access, this is a good spot but not the greatest. If you drive up the rockaways to the Beach 60s, there’s tons of free parking and there’s direct access to the boardwalk and Rockaway beach.
