For example, if the UAS flight path, in case of a control failure, is set to immediately descend, or to return "home" and that is what takes place, then that is not a flyaway. The internet connection will send the lost drones ID numbers to DJI. DJI will know they replaced that particular drone and won't let it fly. That's not how it works.

Things have moved on since then. In 2015 DJI developed the Go app which recorded flight data that could be investigated to see what actually happened in a flight incident.
