Thiruparankundram, also spelled Tirupparankundram or Tiruparangundram, is a neighbourhood in Madurai city in Tamil Nadu, India. It is about 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) from Periyar Bus Terminus, the centre of the city and constitutes the southwest part of the Madurai city.
The temple is located 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from Madurai in India. In the main shrine, apart from Murugan, the deities Shiva, Vishnu, Vinayaka (Ganesha) and Durga are housed. The temple follows Shaiva tradition of worship.

Sikandhar Badusha, who was the governor of Jeddah, came along with Sulthan Syed Ibrahim Shaheed Badushah who came to Tamil Nadu in particular Ervadifrom Madinah during the late 12th century.
Badusha Sulthan Syed Ibrahim shaheed Labswh of Erwadi won the Madurai province against the King Thiru Pandiyan who refused to convert to Islam and made Sulthan sikandhar Badusha the emperor of Madurai.
