Rick and Morty is an American adult animated multimedia franchise originating with the Adult Swim television series of the same name created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, which premiered in 2013.
Adult Swim revealed the new voices of Rick and Morty with its Season 7 trailer in September 2023, but the new actors were not announced until the season’s premiere in October. When the seventh season premiered on October 15, 2023, it was revealed that the new actors were Ian Cardoni as Rick and Harry Belden as Morty.

- Ian Cardoni (Rick Sanchez) Rick Sanchez is effectively out of f—s to give. The middle-aged mad scientist tries to act like he can't be bothered when in fact, everything is bothering him all the time — mainly his own family.
- Harry Belden (Morty Smith) Part-time adventure companion and lab rat for Rick, Morty eventually becomes a driving force in the series instead of just an unwilling sidekick.
- Jon Allen (Mr. Poopy Butthole) Initially introduced as a side character, Mr. Poopy Butthole ended up hanging around like a dingleberry. After Beth believes him to be a memory parasite and shoots him, he uses her guilt as a crutch to take advantage of the Smith's hospitality.
- Chris Parnell (Jerry Smith) As the would-be patriarch of the family, Jerry Smith is less of a pillar and more of a human paper straw (limp, disposable, and gives up halfway through).
Compounded with Morty's already unstable family life, these events cause Morty much distress at home and school. Rick is a mentally-unbalanced but scientifically gifted old man who has recently reconnected with his family.
