Hadoop Architecture. The Hadoop architecture is a package of the file system, MapReduce engine and the HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System). The MapReduce engine can be MapReduce/MR1 or YARN/MR2. A Hadoop cluster consists of a single master and multiple slave nodes.
What is Hadoop Architecture? Hadoop has a master-slave topology. In this topology, we have one master node and multiple slave nodes. Master node’s function is to assign a task to various slave nodes and manage resources. The slave nodes do the actual computing. Slave nodes store the real data whereas on master we have metadata.
