    Complete applications

    From the time you submit your application, it can take six to eight weeks to finalise assessment dependent on the time of year. If your graduate application is complete the standard time frame is two weeks after your education provider confirms your graduate results. Specialist applications where general registration is already held also takes about two weeks to assess.

    Incomplete applications

    If your application is not considered complete this means we have not received all the information to complete an assessment. We can only advise on a timeframe once all outstanding requirements have been provided (those timeframes are provided above).   2. Health practitioners with general, specialist or non-practising registration renew online at the same time each year. Nurses and midwives renew their registration by 31 May every year. Medical practitioners renew their registration by 30 September every year.

  4. Nurses and midwives with general or non-practicsing registration must renew their registration with the NMBA by 31 May each year. The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) manages the registration and renewal process on behalf of the NMBA. Look out for an email reminder to renew from Ahpra, confirming that online renewal is open.

  5. If you are seeking dual registration as a registered nurse and as a midwife, you will need to complete the Self-check for your primary qualification first then contact Ahpra. If there is only one level of nursing in the country you obtained your primary qualification, select 'Registered nurse' when selecting your division on the Self-check.

  6. Apr 3, 2024 · Nurses and midwives are invited to renew their general or non-practising registration. You will soon receive an email from Ahpra providing access to online renewal. Remember to renew by 31 May 2024 to avoid any delays or late fees.
