CHAPTER I. PRELIMINARY. Short title, extent and commencement.-(1) This Act may be called the Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994. It shall extend to the whole of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir.

May 1, 2023 · Conducting or aiding in prenatal diagnostic techniques in unregistered facilities is an offense under the act. Sex selection on a man or woman is prohibited by the act. Performing prenatal diagnostic techniques for any purpose other than the one specified in the act is an offense.
