John Ostrander (born April 20, 1949) is an American writer of comic books, including Suicide Squad, Grimjack and Star Wars: Legacy. He co-created the Oracle persona for Barbara Gordon and created the second and modern version of the antihero / supervillain team the Suicide Squad , of which the films Suicide Squad (2016) and The Suicide Squad (2021) are based on.
John Ostrander was born in Evanston, IL, and was raised in Chicago. He created the modern version of the Suicide Squad comic and Amanda Waller. He has also created or the author of a number of other comics such as GrimJack, The Spectre, The Kents, Kros: Hallowed Ground, numerous Star Wars comics, Martian Manhunter and many others.
