Hong Kong Metropolitan University, formerly as the Open Learning Institute of Hong Kong (OLI) and the Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK), was established by the British Hong Kong Government in 1989.
May 4, 2021 · In September 2021, upon the approval of the Legislative Council, we will launch our new title, “Hong Kong Metropolitan University” (香港都會大學), which marks our unique position in metropolitan Hong Kong and points to our aspiration in the 21st century.

Hong Kong Metropolitan University is located in Ho Man Tin, Hong Kong. It was first established in 1989 as the Open Learning Institute of Hong Kong. It began as a distance-learning institution, but has been offering in-person courses since 2011.
