In 1896, it was rebuilt as a bandstand and renamed Queen’s Park by the British governor Lord Elgin. The Bandstand was damaged by a storm in 1920 and was rebuilt in concrete in 1921. The promenade was renamed Bandstand Promenade in 1985.
