Heidi is a Swiss girl, initially raised in the town of Maienfeld, Switzerland. Heidi's parents died when she was a baby, and she became the ward of her maternal aunt Dette, a working-class spinster. The series begins when Heidi is 5-years-old, and aunt Dette finds a new job.
Heidi is a happy, outgoing orphan who lives with her grandfather in the idyllic scenery of the Swiss Alps. Heidi makes friends quickly and people know they can always rely on her for help. She loves the freedom of life in the mountains, but she also learns how to take on responsibility.
Overview. After becoming an orphan, Heidi is forced to live with her grandfather Öhi who lives in the mountain Alps. However he is a very bitter man who only accepts to take her in by force. Heidi's kindness may be able to open Öhi's heart.
