The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp is the first Western television series written for adults. It premiered four days before Gunsmoke on September 6, 1955. Two weeks later came the Clint Walker western Cheyenne. The series is loosely based on the life of frontier marshal Wyatt Earp.

- S01:E01 - Wyatt Earp Becomes a Marshal. Initially resistant to becoming a lawman, Wyatt Earp has a change of heart after seeing the sheriff of Ellsworth, Kansas murdered by the inebriated brother of town scourge Ben Thompson.
- S01:E02 - Mr. Earp Meets a Lady. Earp jails Ben Thompson in the hope that his brother Bill will attempt a jailbreak, but the Marshall underestimates the naive Abbie Crandall, who is also determined to help Ben escape.
- S01:E03 - Bill Thompson Gives In. Earp's insistence on patiently stalking the Thompson brothers with a pair of Indian scouts doesn't set well with some Ellsworth citizens who demand immediate capture of the two fugitives.
- S01:E04 - Marshal Earp Meets General Lee. A quick-tempered former Confederate officer with a grudge against Wyatt threatens to destroy Ellsworth if Wyatt is not immediately stripped of his badge and run out of town.
Earp has convinced Wells Fargo to use undercover agents to help protect shipments but the job is dangerous. After stopping one of Clanton's robbery attempts, Earp realizes the agent is in danger for his life unless Earp acts to save him.
