Ole-Johan Dahl (12 October 1931 – 29 June 2002) was a Norwegian computer scientist. Dahl was a professor of computer science at the University of Oslo and is considered to be one of the fathers of Simula and object-oriented programming along with Kristen Nygaard .

Ole-Johan Dahl was born on 12th October 1931 in Mandal, a small town on the south coast of Norway. Although now a resort, the residents of Mandal had historically looked to the sea for their livelihoods, and Dahl was descended on both sides from long lines of sea captains and sailors.
Simula is the name of two simulation programming languages, Simula I and Simula 67, developed in the 1960s at the Norwegian Computing Center in Oslo, by Ole-Johan Dahl and Kristen Nygaard. Syntactically, it is an approximate superset of ALGOL 60, [1] : 1.3.1 and was also influenced by the design of Simscript. [2]
