Kemper Military School & College was a private military school located in Boonville, Missouri. Founded in 1844, Kemper filed for bankruptcy and closed in 2002. The school's motto was "Nunquam Non Paratus" (Never Not Prepared). The 46-acre campus played a key role in Boonville's identity as a popular 19th-century Missouri river town.
The history, heritage, and pride of Kemper Military School continue to live on through our dedicated alumni association. When we look back at the impact KMS has made on our community, the nation, and the world -- we can't help but be proud that we are a part of the story.

After Kemper’s death in 1881, Thomas Johnson became head of the school, converting Kemper to a military school, which by 1889 was called the “West Point of the West.” Enrollment at Kemper reached 100 by 1900, and by the end of World War I, it had peaked at 502.
We are pleased to announce the opening of the Kemper Military School & College Museum, or simply, the Kemper Museum. As of October 1, 2021, our doors are officially open and we are thrilled to have you come and see what we have created.
