Françoise-Athénaïs de Rochechouart de Mortemart, Marquise of Montespan (5 October 1640 – 27 May 1707), commonly known as Madame de Montespan (French: [madam də mɔ̃tɛspɑ̃]), was a French noblewoman and the most celebrated royal mistress of King Louis XIV.
Françoise-Athénaïs de Rochechouart, marquise de Montespan was the mistress of Louis XIV of France for 13 years. Daughter of the marquis (from 1650 duc) de Mortemart, she was married in 1663 to the marquis de Montespan, by whom she had two children.

Françoise Athénaïs de Rochechouart de Mortemart, marquise de Montespan was the official mistress (maîtresse-en-titre) of Louis XIV from 1667 until 1677, when she fell from favour, though she was not exiled from court until 1690.
