Mahidevran Hatun ( Ottoman Turkish: ماه دوران, meaning " moon of fortune ", [1] c. 1500 - 3 February 1581 [2] [3]) also known as Gülbahar Hatun, [4] ( Ottoman Turkish: کل بھار, meaning " spring rose " [5] ), was a concubine of sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and the mother of Şehzade Mustafa of the Ottoman Empire .
Mahidevran was the favourite wife of Suleiman the Magnificent before Hürrem Sultan, but she lost her position and influence after the birth of Selim. She was a loyal and influential advisor to her son Mustafa, who was executed by Suleiman in 1553.
Mahidevran Sultan is a concubine of a Circassian descent, and she was taken to the harem of Şehzade Suleiman to become his favorite concubine. She later becomes the Haseki Sultan (chief consort), and the mother of Şehzade Mustafa.

He was the governor of Manisa from 1533 to 1541, of Amasya from 1541 to 1553, when he was executed by his father's order on charges of sedition and treason.
